How it starts

The Estimate

You have come to know that you need some work done on your roof, so you begin to search for a roofing contractor. Regardless of the way you discovered us, you can contact us via many ways to make an appointment for a free estimate including: phone, email, our website, or our Facebook page.

Once you’ve contacted our office staff, an estimator will then contact you (usually within the next 24-48 hours) to set an appointment for your estimate at a time that is convenient for you.
During the appointment, the estimator will introduce themselves upon arrival at your home and start taking the necessary measurements. Often, calculations can be made on site and the estimator can provide you with the details of your quote right away. Some more complex quotes may require additional research on products, availability, permits and other factors and, in this case, you will receive your quote a little later by email.

This is a perfect time for you to voice all your questions and concerns to make sure that all of them are addressed in the quote. Once this is accomplished, the estimate is complete. You can take all the time you need to consider the proposal and contact us with any questions that arise.

The Follow Up

Once you have received your estimate, our staff will follow up with you, usually within two weeks. Our goal is to provide answers to any questions you may have, as well as confirm if you have made a decision concerning the estimator’s proposal. If you decide to proceed with the proposed work, we will ensure that all details are clear and discuss the signing of the contract. Our staff will continue to monitor the project until it is completed, or you no longer need our services.

Contract Signature

You can send us a signed copy of the contract by e-mail or mail. You may also come to our offices to sign the copy in person. Once the contract is signed, you can be assured that your project will be taken care of in a timely manner. Keep in mind that the contract can always be modified or adjusted if you think of new details between the signing of the contract and the completion of the project.

Scheduling your project

+

Requested dates

You can usually request any date you would like, provided that you allow sufficient notice. When requesting a specific date, it is important to note that weather conditions may prevent us from beginning the project as planned. If you have a very busy schedule, it would be best to have a backup plan in case unexpected weather conditions make it impossible to start your project on the originally planned date.

The confirmation

Whether you requested a specific date, or our staff selects one for you, we will give you a confirmation call two to three days before. The purpose of this call is to make sure that the proposed date is convenient for you and does not conflict with your other plans. The administrative assistant will also take a few moments of your time to confirm all the details of the contract such as colors, scope of work and types of materials chosen. At this time, you’ll also be informed of what needs to be done to prepare for your project, such as clearing fragile objects away from the work area and the driveway.

If for unexpected reasons your project must be postponed, you will also receive a call or email to inform you that we will not begin on the date that was planned. The administrative assistant will also suggest a new date for your project if this is the case. You will receive a confirmation call again two days prior to the new date for your project.

It may occur that projects are rescheduled due to special requests or other reasons beyond our control, thus leaving openings in our schedule. In these cases, you may receive a last-minute phone call to see if you are interested in having your project begin ahead of schedule.

Arrival of our team

+

The waste bin

In most cases, the first person on site is the one who delivers the waste bin (trailer). Our roofing team usually starts around 7 a.m. and since there are several trailers to deliver across various projects, they could arrive as early as 6 a.m. It is important that any vehicle be moved out of the garage and your driveway so as not to be barricaded by the trailer as they are locked and cannot be quickly moved. We recommend that you remove vehicles the day before the planned project start date.

In most cases, the trailer leaves the site on the day the work is completed. In the event that the work is completed outside business hours, the trailer may be removed the following morning, between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. For projects ending late on Friday, the trailer could remain on site until the following Monday morning. If this is a concern for you, please advise our staff that the trailer must be removed for the weekend and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Site preparation

Our team arrives on site between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Depending on the complexity of the project and the scope of work involved, certain measures are required to prepare the site. Homes with large gardens may require the installation of tarpaulins to protect the plants. Occasionally, pools may need to be covered or boards may be set in place to protect windows or eavestroughs. Once these preparations are complete, the project can begin.

Getting the job done

+

Removal of the old roof system

We firmly believe in order to do a good job, we must completely remove your old roof system. This allows us to detect any problem areas or damaged wood. This also provides a smooth and clean surface to install your new roof system on, preventing installation over damaged or rotten surfaces. This step is essential in preventing premature shingle lifting caused by improper fastening due to an uneven surface beneath the roof.

Repair of damaged roof decking or structure

Once the old roof system has been removed, our team inspects the roof deck for any weak, damaged or rotting wood. Any portions of the deck that are not fit to receive your new roof system are repaired or replaced as needed. Areas that were severely damaged or rotted may also require structural repairs. If so, you will be notified, and these repairs can be done at the same time as the remainder of the roof work.

Installation of roof deck protection

Once all the necessary wood repairs have been completed, the installation of your new roof system is ready to begin. All our roofing projects include a minimum of 6 feet of membrane for the eaves and 3 feet at the valleys. Some contracts will include more membrane, and up to full coverage of the surface as needed to properly protect your home. Portions of your roof that are not covered with a membrane will receive a synthetic underlayment. Both the membrane and underlayment are waterproof, which allows your home to remain safe even if it rains and your new roof system is not yet completely installed. They also provide protection from rain in cases where a portion of your roof becomes damaged in extreme weather conditions. Once all the underlayment and membrane has been installed, your roof is already weatherproof and ready to protect your home.

Installing the roof you have chosen

Whether you have chosen asphalt shingles, metal, synthetic roofing or clay tiles, our experienced team will install the chosen product according to the manufacturers’ standards. All the necessary flashings and accessories will be installed to ensure that your home looks beautiful and remains that way. Once your chosen roof system has been installed, the job is inspected, touchups are executed, and the desired result is achieved.

The finishing touches

+

Clean up

The roof you have chosen has been installed and the house looks great. Our team is dedicated to leaving your property looking great as well. We will sweep the area with a magnetic broom to ensure that any fasteners that may have fallen during the work are removed from your lawn. Your driveway will be swept, and the ground raked if necessary, to make sure your property is as clean or cleaner than when we got there. Once the site is clean to everyone’s satisfaction, the team will leave the site and let you enjoy the peace of mind provided by the installation of your new roof.

Follow-up

Shortly after the work is completed, you can expect a call from our estimator or staff. You will be informed that your project has indeed been completed and we will let you know if any additional work was required, such as repairing wood or replacing accessories that were reported damaged during the inspection. Our staff will also send you the invoice and arrange to receive payment in the manner that is most convenient to you. We accept cash payments, cheques, and bank transfers. If it is inconvenient for you to make the payment directly at our office, you can send us a cheque by mail, or an appointment can even be made with the estimator to give them the payment in person.
